The Deco chess set pulls inspiration from several Art Deco periods, displaying classic lines alongside some more contemporary stylings.

The pieces were individually designed to evoke classic Deco styles and shapes - the eagle-eyed observer may even notice a few nods to historical and pop culture icons.

Initial sketches for the pieces were modeled in Rhino and 3D printed. The physical pieces were cleaned up and used to make silicone molds, which in turn were used to cast resin copies for the full set of pieces.

The board was a combination build of cherry, an acrylic panel with a vinyl overlay for the pattern, and a set of LEDs wired to a control knob in the board.
